Fayetteville, N.C. – The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is proud to announce its integral role in three transformative capital arts projects that promise to elevate the cultural landscape of Cumberland County: the development of the new Crown Event Center, the renovation and expansion of the Cape Fear Regional Theatre, and the creation of a dynamic flex performance space at the Arts Council’s ArtsXL facility, located at 214 Burgess Street.
The Crown Event Center:
Set to become a cornerstone of the county’s cultural and entertainment offerings, the new Crown Event Center will replace the aging Crown Theatre and Arena. Designed to host a variety of events, from concerts to conferences, this state-of-the-art facility will enhance Cumberland County’s ability to attract world-class performances and large-scale gatherings. The Arts Council has been actively involved in shaping the vision for this project, advocating for features that accommodate diverse artistic disciplines and enhance the community’s access to live arts.
Cape Fear Regional Theatre Renovation and Expansion:
As one of the region’s premier theatrical institutions, the Cape Fear Regional Theatre (CFRT) is undergoing a significant renovation and expansion. This project will modernize its facilities, increase seating capacity, and provide advanced technical capabilities to support more ambitious productions. The Arts Council’s partnership with CFRT underscores its commitment to strengthening the infrastructure of the arts ecosystem in Cumberland County, ensuring that local and visiting audiences can enjoy exceptional theatrical experiences.
ArtsXL Facility at 214 Burgess Street:
The Arts Council is thrilled to unveil plans for its ArtsXL facility, a vibrant new space designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. Central to this development is the creation of a versatile flex performance space. This innovative venue will accommodate various uses, including theater, dance, music performances, workshops, and community events. Located at 214 Burgess Street, the ArtsXL facility will serve as a hub for emerging and established artists, offering a platform to
experiment and connect with audiences in fresh and impactful ways.
“The ArtsXL facility embodies our vision of making the arts accessible to everyone,” said
Bob Pinson, President/CEO of the Arts Council. “This new performance space will not only support local artists but also create opportunities for collaboration and innovation, strengthening the cultural heartbeat of Fayetteville and Cumberland County.”
The Arts Council’s Leadership in Driving Cultural Growth
As a cornerstone institution in Cumberland County, the Arts Council has played a pivotal role in advocating for these projects, ensuring that each initiative reflects the needs and aspirations of the community. By fostering partnerships and leveraging resources, the Arts Council continues to champion the arts as a vital driver of economic development, tourism, and quality of life.
Looking Ahead
The Arts Council invites residents and visitors to stay engaged with the progress of these exciting projects.
