Art strengthens the entire community. It enriches the lives of residents, enlivens city and neighborhood experiences, brings visitors from one neighborhood to another, enhances education, cultivates tourism, builds bridges, attracts investment and acts as a catalyst for growth.

Your Arts Council membership makes all of this possible in your community....and so much more.

Programs
Access to the arts for all and a medium for community celebration is an Arts Council staple. Your membership dollars create nationally recognized events like the International Folk Festival, a celebration of our community’s diversity featuring arts and crafts, international food and entertainment and a parade of nations, and A Dickens Holiday, the Victorian era brought to life during the holidays complete with artists, merchants, roving Dickens characters, a candlelight procession, and fireworks, that have become a hallmark of our community. You help showcase all that is splendid in our area and provide the perfect opportunity to welcome visitors with open arms.

Community events such as Fourth Friday gallery crawls through downtown and neighborhood Art Attacks, mini art festivals brought to various areas of our county, help bring neighbors together and open the doors to self-expression with hands-on art activities.

Grants
As an Arts Council member you help foster an environment in which the arts can thrive and contribute to the creation of a more vibrant community. The Arts Council’s Operating Support Grants help keep the arts in business at the Cape Fear Regional Theatre, Cape Fear Studios, Fayetteville Museum of Art and Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra.

Your dollars reinforce the many non-profit organizations that choose art as a means of reaching their goals through meaningful projects and programs with the Arts Council’s Project Support and Major Project grants.

You help individuals artists in a 15 county area with funding through the Regional Artist Project Grant Program and with support throughout the year.

Education
The Arts Council’s Arts In Education program reaches over 40,000 students. Through the Artists in Schools programs, artists provide in school performances and workshop activities that help enrich the education of Cumberland County students.

Artist Services
Your dollars serve artists in many ways. Everything The Arts Council does is a service to artists, arts organizations and other groups who incorporate the arts to accomplish their mission.

The Arts Council gallery features monthly art exhibits and/or performances throughout the year, providing direct opportunities for local artists to display and sell their works.

The Artists Index at TheArtsCouncil.com is where artists may post their pictures, biographies and resumes and provides a great resource for those looking to employ artists or purchase original works of art.
