African-American exhibit's Grand Opening on Fourth Friday

Join us this Fourth Friday, Jan. 22, as the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County presents the Grand Opening of a national touring exhibition, Art of the Masters: A Survey of African American Images, 1980-2000. To learn more about the exhibit and its related activities, click here.

Other Places to Visit during January's Fourth Friday

  • Cape Fear Studios: Art by faculty members from area art programs at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, Meredith College, Methodist University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
  • City Center Gallery & Books: Featuring Sometimes We Fall as Boys but Rise as Men - The Healing of a Purple Heart Iraqi Veteran by author Thomas Green III.
  • Cotton Exchange: Exhibit of crafts and artwork by local and regional artists. Refreshments.
  • Fascinate-U Children’s Museum: Rain sticks craft activity for children. Admission is free. Refreshments.
  • Fayetteville Area Transportation Museum: Display of antique cars and hot rods out front.
  • Headquarters Library: An evening of the blues with Robbie Reid, one of Fayetteville’s premier blues guitarists. Refreshments.
  • Market House: Exhibit on “The History of Cross Creek Cemetery.”

Fourth Friday is a true celebration of the arts and downtown. Folks of all ages get a taste of Fayetteville's art and entertainment while enjoying the small galleries, bookstores, bistros and shops with unique items for shoppers.

Even the streets become the stage for roaming magicians, puppet shows and drum circles. It’s safe, it's fun and did we mention it's free!

The night begins at 7 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) at the Arts Council on 301 Hay Street. Exhibits, entertainment, refreshments and featured artists all combine to bring the art of Fayetteville to everyone – free of charge! Businesses in the four and a half block of historic downtown Fayetteville join the action and become artistic venues on Fourth Friday, featuring the arts in all forms, for all ages.
